Will Weaver Will Weaver

Last updated on: May 10, 2010

Having grown up in rural Minnesota, Will Weaver knows how difficult farm life can be. Now, as a writer and a teacher of creative writing at Bemidji State University, his early memories provide important background for his novels and stories about midwestern teenagers, a group that very few adults write about. Weaver's character Billy Baggs, a teenage farm boy with a fantastic pitching arm, has earned his way into the hearts of teen readers as well as teachers and librarians through three award-winning novels: Striking Out, Farm Team, and Hard Ball, and Will Weaver's "The Photograph" is probably one of the best short stories you'll find anywhere for teens.
